[Ep 1] "Duggars & JCPenney" - I Pray You Put This Journal Away Podcast
In this introductory episode, the process of opening up begins with a serious (and occasionally lighthearted) look at the journal's first entries. We discuss the first Duggar meeting as well as early indicators of struggle with Josh. Family bands, JCPenny catalogs, home church, and congregational confession are discussed. Trigger warning: themes of trauma and sexual and physical abuse are discussed. "Duggars & JCPenney" (Episode 1) - "I Pray You Put This Journal Away": Growing up with the Duggars, fundamentalism, and undiagnosed autism. A husband and wife embark on a journey of catharsis and reflection as they read an old diary chronicling the struggles of an undiagnosed autistic teenager growing up with reality TV's Duggar family and fundamentalist Christianity. Through laughter and tears, they deconstruct the past in an entertaining and unvarnished examination of a unique upbringing. Apologies for the quiet audio. We're new to this, and will correct the volume moving forward. Leave comments with any questions you'd like us to address in future episodes.
