The Reserve Bank Of India maintained the status quo in its bi-monthly monetary policy today. The committee unanimously voted to keep the repo rate unchanged at 4% for the ninth consecutive time and with an accommodative stance. Currently, the repo rate remains lowest since April 2001 at 4% and the reverse rate stands at 3.35%. Given the potential risk of new coronavirus variant – omicron & the rising inflation MPC expects Real GDP growth to be at 17.2% & CPI inflation at 5.3% in 2022.
