Ferndale Manor, (Dollhouse & Miniatures) Pt 2. ‘Vacant Possession’, a dream in miniature

Ferndale Manor and family welcome you to share their miniature world. This world involves a Miniature 12th scale Manor house, ‘To call it a ‘Dollhouse’, would be derogatory’, it is populated with imaginary people (some based on us) and the others are purely fictional characters typical of the time period 1910. In reality there are just the three of us living on our secret island in the turbulent sea of suburbia in England, with no other family, we are William the father, Gwendoline, the mother and their daughter Miss Stephanie, we are 90, 85, and 56 respectively, ‘The Ferndale’s’. To call us an unconventional family would be an understatement, eccentric would be fashionably closer. ‘Miss Stephanie’ is high functioning Autistic, a very unusual statuesque 6ft girl, who was simply born different, her skills are seemingly magical, however the pay-off is that she does not understand the outside world, and can’t cope where most thrive. The Miniature – ‘Ferndale Manor’ was conceived by William as a rehabilitation project for Miss Stephanie who had become very ill indeed, with her promising career in ruins. Time is not on our side at 90 and 85, and we worry for our daughter’s future in a world quite alien to her, she is not more or less able than others, just very different, therefore special and of unique value, we now feel it time to reveal our semi-fictional story to the world. In Williams own words; “I made sure ‘Miss Stephanie’ had the best quality traditional materials, screwed and glued together to ensure a good foundation for a quality masterpiece, also as a testament to us and a treasure for posterity”. In Miss Stephanie’s own words, “I am aware I take perfection too seriously, however it does stimulate unique results, I wanted to follow Williams statement with my own testament to my design days past in electronics, Williams design work being in aero-engines, with some adventures with property design, all involving draughtsmanship. I created the Infrared Control & cordless electronic control system, conceivably the first in the miniatures field in (1991), my legacy to posterity.” We hope you enjoy our offering and please subscribe, comment and donate towards Miss Stephanie’s precarious future.
