Lismore Mayor: ‘The morale is really low’
Lismore Mayor Steve Krieg says volunteers are coming from all across the country to assist the city as heavy rainfall is predicted to hit the flood-damaged region. It comes as evacuation orders were announced yesterday as flash-flooding threatens Lismore, four weeks after the region faced severe destruction. Mr Krieg said the city is well prepared. “We’ve done everything that we can, there wasn’t a hell a lot of stuff to move up this time obviously, because most of it was trashed four weeks ago,” he told Sky News Australia. “People are shattered to be honest with you. It is heartbreaking for me to see that only yesterday some of our businesses were starting to re-open.”
