LIVE CONFIDENTLY FOR CHRIST'S RETURN – Daily Devotional
Daily Bread Devotional: Devotional Topic: Living Confidently for Christ's Return READ: 1 John 2:18-29 Verse of the Day: 1 John 2:28 Devotional Message: (1 John 2:28) "And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming." Observation: In this verse, the apostle John reminds us of the importance of staying close to Jesus. He calls believers "dear children," showing his deep love and care. John emphasizes the need to "continue in Him," which means remaining connected to Jesus by trusting Him, obeying His teachings, and walking in His ways daily. The reason for this is simple yet profound: Jesus is coming back. When Jesus returns, John says we can either stand "confident" or feel "ashamed." Imagine seeing Jesus face-to-face—how would you feel? Confidence comes from living a life that honors God, even when no one is watching. But feeling ashamed comes when we let distractions, sin, or laziness pull us away from Him. John wants us to be ready, not by being perfect but by staying close to Jesus and letting Him shape our lives. This verse encourages us to think about the future while living faithfully in the present. It’s not about fear but about living with purpose, knowing that our actions today reflect our love for Him. Application: How can we “continue in Him”? Here are practical ways: 1. Spend time with Him daily: Read the Bible and pray. It’s like watering a plant—it helps your relationship with Jesus grow. 2. Choose obedience: Every day, you face choices—will you follow God’s way or your own? Obedience may not always be easy, but it brings peace and confidence. 3. Stay in community: Surround yourself with other believers who encourage you to grow in your faith. Being part of a church or small group can keep you accountable and inspired. 4. Share your faith: When we share Jesus with others, it strengthens our own faith and reminds us of the hope we have in Him. Think of this life as preparation. Jesus’ return is like a big event—are you ready? Confidence doesn’t come from being perfect; it comes from knowing Jesus and trusting Him to guide your steps. Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank You for reminding us to stay close to You. Help us live each day in a way that pleases You so that we can stand confidently before You when You return. Give us strength to obey and courage to share Your love with others. Amen.
