Drop it! A different way to train drop it. Dog training

Be careful to not reach out and touch or grab the item the dog currently has. Once you try to grab the item the dog already has, you are starting the game of keep away or tug - o - war. Offer something else before touching what your dog already has in their mouth. Make the new item that you are offering fun for your dog! If you just shove it in their face, thats no fun!! Move the new toy in a fun way like a small rodent across the ground or a bird flying in the sky! You can make a boring toy fun by how you make it move! No one wants something that is easy (wink wink)! So make the new item fun that they have to work to grab so that they WANT to drop the item they have in their mouth to make a trade. They eventually will pick up the words "Drop it" with practice and also that dropping it is fun and not frustrating.
