Have you been decorating your home and getting ready for Christmas? We are excited to kick off the season of Advent with all of you! Our new series “Honest Advent” is based on a book by Scott Erickson of the same name. He writes, “For too many of us, the celebration of Christmas has lost its wonder. Maybe for you, it has become a bittersweet season of complicated family dynamics, a predictable brand masking insatiable consumerism, or simply a sacred story that feels far too removed from our current chaotic world…Honest Advent seeks to illuminate the astonishing, hope-filled truth that the God who showed up in the hardest parts of our humanity is still showing up today in those same places…We often forget that the encounter with the incarnate Christ happens in unexpected places, like a pregnancy announcement in a time of political unrest, the morning sickness of a Middle Eastern teenager, or the shocking biology of home birth that goes far beyond the sanitized brand of Christmas as we know it.” Join us for a season of learning again of the vulnerability and reality God experienced to be with us. This Sunday we also get to meet our brand new Director of Children’s and Family Ministries, Rev. Geneva McAuley! We can’t WAIT for you to meet her. Between services Seek Team is hosting Wonder Workshops with Advent activities for all ages in the downstairs bridge hallway. Along those walls will be an art gallery from Scott Erickson’s Honest Advent collection. Spend time being creative, chatting with friends new and old, or contemplating the art as it invites reflection on the story of God With Us. 9am - Contemporary Worship 10am - Wonder Workshop & Art Show 11am - Traditional Worship The trees are up.
