1976 Magnavox TV Commercial With Built-In Pong Game

Commercial for Magnavox TV with built-in Pong game. You can read, watch, listen and even play the history of the Odyssey, the first ever video game console, at my video game history website The Dot Eaters: https://thedoteaters.com/?bitstory=bi... The introduction of this 1976 Magnavox TV with built-in Pong type game was the fruition of a dream by Ralph Baer, inventor of the first video game console, Odyssey. Odyssey was released in 1972 by Magnavox, but Baer had originally envisioned a TV set with a built-in electronic ping-pong game. He wasn't able to convince his then employer, Loral, to go with the design, and he eventually moved to military contractor Sanders, where he developed the prototype of the Odyssey, which was eventually licensed to Magnavox. When Magnavox released the 4305 TV/Video Game hybrid, demonstrated in the ad featured in this video, it was the realization of Baer's original vision... to make a TV that viewers didn't just sit passively and stare at.... they actually played it!
