Biden signs bill making lynching a federal hate crime

Emmett Till was 14 years old when he was killed by lynching in Mississippi in 1955. He was one of the thousands of Black people terrorized by lynchings in the U.S., but it took until Tuesday for a federal anti-lynching act -- the Emmett Till Antilynching Act of 2022 -- to be signed into law. It makes lynching a federal hate crime.
