Actors Painful Costumes In Spider-Man No Way Home
They’re not always comfortable, but somehow the Spider-Man actors make it work. Many of the characters who returned from other Spider-Man universes got lucky enough to end up with much more comfortable costumes. Doc Ock was the real deal the first time around, so ditching the puppet arms for blue circles was a-ok in Alfred Molina’s books. Willem Dafoe got to ditch his mask making for a much easier time hearing and seeing on set. Jamie Foxx had never experienced really being Electro in the same way the others got to embody their characters, so his new suit made for a very different experience. The Spider-Man boys got to bond over some of the struggles they faced with their suits - including the fact that it was a total nightmare when any of them needed to pee! The suits were tight and restrictive as could be - and while certain aspects were integrated to help, they often wound up making the performer’s lives more difficult, restricting their breathing or movement. The Iron-Spider suit included some special golden gauntlets and while we loved the way they looked, Tom Holland wasn’t so fond of them. The actor also faced disappointment when it came to using a smartphone wearing the lycra suit - let’s just say the fabric isn’t so touch screen friendly. Andrew Garfield was intimidated to jump back into the suit - so he made sure to prep himself for the costume fitting. Maguire had gone nearly twenty years without putting on his Spidey-Suit, so off the bat, he wasn’t feeling so confident in it, until he felt totally at home. They can be painful and actors have different experiences with their costumes, but in the end, no pain no gain - and usually the look of these outfits on-screen are totally worth it!
