Thailand cancels New Year's celebrations amid COVID fears
Thailand was looking like one of the success stories of 2020. Despite being the first country outside China to detect COVID-19 infections, it had remarkably low infection rates and fewer than 100 fatalities. A recent surge in COVID-19 cases is prompting authorities to rethink how to welcome the New Year. Thailand has already cancelled large gatherings and New Year's events.
