Webinar - Help Youth Find a Free Meal This Summer - 2014-05-28

Watch this free webinar to learn about how you and your organization can increase the numbers of youth who benefit from free meals in your community this summer. You can make a difference, even if you are not a meal provider! Libraries, nonprofits, and faith-based organizations can help fight youth hunger by sharing information about local free summer meal sites. Only one in six children who are eligible for the National School Lunch Program take advantage of the Summer Food Service Program. Children who regularly had access to nutritious meals during the school year may be undernourished or hungry over the summer, even when free meals are available in their community. Government agencies and community-based organizations are working hard to change this reality. You'll hear from special guests with expertise in this area: -- Marnie Webb, CEO of Caravan Studios, who will talk about referral tools to help reduce the hunger gap in your community, including WhyHunger.org, Share Our Strength, and Range, a new free mobile app designed to locate free meal sites for youth this summer. -- Michael Cox, Director of Public Services at the Pueblo City-County Library District (CO), whose library serves meals and refers youth to other meal sites in the area. -- Patrice Chamberlain, Director, California Summer Meal Coalition will talk about youth hunger and share how the Summer Meals program improves access to nutritious meals and builds community in the process. Please bring your ideas, experiences, and questions. Come join us in the fight to end youth hunger!
