Lagarde, Osborne issue warnings on Brexit vote

(13 May 2016) IMF chief Christine Lagarde joined UK chancellor George Osborne on Friday and warned that a vote to leave the European Union could set Britain on course for severe economic uncertainty or even recession. They were speaking in London as the IMF (International Monetary Fund) was reporting the findings of its latest health check on the state of the UK economy. Lagarde insisted the IMF wasn't playing politics or seeking to help the British government's campaign to persuade voters to remain in the EU - it was just doing its job and analysing the risks. Osbornse seized on Lagarde's comments and said the IMF's message was clear - a vote to leave would cost Britain money.
