Weekend Showcase: Twin Cities Harvest Festival & Maze
You've likely noticed the leaves beginning to change, and there's a crisp feel in the air. That means it's time for harvest and fall festivals, and there’s a big one going on now in north Brooklyn Park. Every year Bert Bouwman engages in some fairly complex agricultural artistry. He designs a corn maze with a relevant Minnesota theme for the Twin Cities Harvest Festival and Maze just off Highway 169 in Brooklyn Park. Past year’s corn maze have highlighted the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Wild, and this year it's all about the Minnesota Vikings. “We have the best stadium in America, we are working with the Vikings and we are featuring US Bank Stadium,” said Bouwman. “They created a logo especially to celebrate this occasion and we used that exact logo in our field here.” The corn maze is fun to go through with stadium trivia points at stops along the way. But the corn maze is just the beginning. There’s live music, food, and of course there’s the giant slide, and there’s a petting zoo. “This year we have a parakeet cage, so the people will be able to feed the parakeets, and they'll be able to be in a very close area to where they are,” added Bouwman. The Twin Cities Harvest Festival and Maze is open every weekend 10-6, plus they’re open Thursday and Friday of MEA weekend. For more information go to Twin Cities Harvest Festival and Maze.
