History of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mirage Studios Volume 1
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a now 40-year-old franchise that has spanned multiple different formats from comics, TV shows, and movies, both live-action and animated. It has had many different iterations that are largely unique. In this video series, I plan to cover every major version of TMNT in chronological order and rank them from best to worst according to my opinion. In this video, I will cover the first part of the original version of TMNT, the first volume of comics published by Mirage Studios. The TMNT comics were created by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, two comic book writers from New England. Originally making a one-shot Daredevil parody, it soon became one of the largest media franchises in the world. This is where the series started. 00:00:00 Introduction 00:16:52 Background on Eastman and Laird 00:21:46 Issue 1 00:35:28 Issues 2 and 3 and Raphael Micro Series 00:52:49 Issues 4-7 01:11:38 Michaelangelo Micro Series 01:14:38 Issue 8 and Dave Sim Controversy 01:25:31 Donatello Micro Series and Issue 9 01:38:20 Leonardo Micro Series, Issues 10-11 01:57:42 The End of Close Collaboration 02:02:54 Peter Laird Solo Issues 02:14:53 Kevin Eastman Solo Issues 02:27:01 Issue 13 02:31:06 Return to New York 02:42:34 Tales of the TMNT and Non-Eastman or Laird Canon Issues 03:29:29 City at War Introduction and Issues 48-50 03:49:56 Casey Jones City at War Arc 03:58:00 April O'Neil City at War Arc 04:03:27 Splinter's City at War Arc 04:10:47 Buscheyev City at War Arc 04:11:45 Turtles and Foot City at War Arc 04:26:10 Issue 62 and City at War Ending 04:29:32 Outro Link to Sources: https://pastebin.com/gBxSVfiM.
