State officials in Khartoum declare general strike

The Sudanese army is facing increasing opposition following a coup on Monday, with the latest push-back coming from state officials in Khartoum who have vowed disobedience. In a statement posted on social media, ministries and agencies said they would not step aside or hand over their duties. They declared a general strike, but pledged to continue to supply flour, cooking gas and emergency medical care.
