Samsung Galaxy Update Breaks Android Auto: Here's How to Fix it!

But there are bound to be some updates that introduce conflicts with other systems. That's the case with the November 2024 update from Samsung as it changes how the Maximum Restrictions work with its built-in Auto Blocker security feature. Auto Blocker Changes With the latest update, Samsung made it so that the Maximum Restrictions option blocks ALL USB connections unless it's for charging only. This means it will not allow any data to be transmitted through the USB cable. This, in turn, ends up breaking Android Auto since that's how many people connect their smartphone to their car. But thankfully, there is an easy fix. Although you will end up sacrificing some of the security benefits of Samsung's Auto Blocker feature. A feature that honestly takes things too far in my opinion. Fixing Android Auto Issues If you have found that a new update to your Samsung Galaxy device has broken Android Auto, then you can fix this by first launching the Settings app. Then finding the Security & Privacy menu From here, look for the Auto Blocker feature and tap the actual words itself. This allows you to configure the Auto Blocker settings instead of turning it off entirely. Now, look at the bottom of this menu and you should find an option labeled Maximum Restrictions And from here, you can disable this level of security protections while keeping the other features enabled. Some have suggested that rebooting the phone is required in order for these changes to take affect. This is what has reportedly broken Android Auto for Samsung Galaxy devices with the November 2024 security update. Since it's enabled on so many people's devices, a conflict between this and Android Auto has started to crop up. Conclusion Samsung has had a lawsuit filed against them due to this Auto Blocker feature. So it's curious that a new update has enabled even more restrictions like this. But thankfully there's an easy way to fix any conflict with Android Auto as long as you're willing to disable the Maximum Restrictions feature within the Auto Blocker menu.
