The 3 types of muscle tissue are cardiac, smooth, and skeletal. #Uniquefoundation5356 #Uniquefoundation5356 What are the functions of the muscle tissue? The main functions of skeletal muscle are to contract to produce movement, sustain body posture and position, maintain body temperature, store nutrients, and stabilize joints. Muscular tissue is a specialized tissue in animals that helps the body move by contracting. There are three types of muscle tissue:  Types of muscular tissue Skeletal muscle This tissue is striated and under voluntary control. It's found in muscles that are attached to the skeleton.  Cardiac muscle This tissue is striated and found in the walls of the heart. It's not under voluntary control.  Smooth muscle This tissue is spindle-shaped and not striated. It's found in the walls of hollow organs like the stomach and uterus. It's also not under voluntary control.  Muscle tissue is made up of long, slender cells called muscle fibers. These fibers are arranged in bundles or layers and surrounded by connective tissue. Muscle tissue contains contractile proteins called actin and myosin that interact to cause movement.
