That means I can easily rekey Kwikset locks like the one shown in the video without a locksmith. You can quickly tell if it has the Smartly feature when you see a tiny slot next to the keyhole. In this video, I'm installing a Kwikset 955 keypad but you can follow along with any of Kwikset's SmartKey products. To start, I'll need: 1. The keys that came in the box with the new Kwikset lock. 2. The current key to my house. 3. The included SmartKey tool. Now take the keys that came with the new lock, insert and turn clockwise 90 degrees. With the key still in, fully insert the SmartKey tool into the tiny slot next to the key hole. Then remove the key and pull out the SmartKey tool in that order. For the final step, insert the current house key, turn it all the way to the left and pull it out. And here's an important note. On Kwikset door knobs and deadbolts, you need to turn the key all the way to the left... even if it means turning it 180 degrees before pulling it out.
