Attempted plane theft at the St. George Municipal Airport, July 17, 2012

ST. GEORGE, Utah - In the early hours of July 17, 2012, SkyWest pilot Brian Hedglin broke into the St. George Municipal Airport and attempted to steal a CRJ200 jet aircraft. He did not succeed and damaged the plane by scraping a wing against the airport terminal. Unable to take off, the plane ultimately came to a stop in the airport parking lot. Hedglin committed suicide at the scene before the authorities were able to gain access to the plane's cockpit. At the time, Hedglin was a suspect in the murder of his girlfriend in Colorado Springs, Colo. This surveillance video was released on Nov.7, 2012, after the conclusion of the investigation into the incident. This video shows the plane entering the airport parking lot.
