River 'viable' for the first time in quarter of a century after clean-up

A river in Lochgoilhead is “viable” for the first time in a quarter of a century after work to restore it meant the return of salmon and trout. The River Goil has suffered from excessive erosion – accelerated by floods, grazing of the banks and increased drainage from the forestry. Local campaigners say the river had suffered from very fine silt being washed into it, which clogs up the gravel in the water.
