Endometriosis itself doesn’t directly cause ovarian cancer, but research shows that women with long-term or severe endometriosis may have a slightly increased risk of developing certain types of ovarian cancer, particularly endometrioid and clear cell ovarian cancers. This is because endometriosis can cause chronic inflammation in the ovaries, leading to abnormal cell changes over time. However, not all women with endometriosis will develop ovarian cancer. What is Endometriosis? Endometriosis is a medical condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining (endometrium) starts growing outside the uterus, commonly affecting the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and the tissue lining the pelvis. This tissue continues to act like the endometrial lining, thickening, breaking down, and bleeding during each menstrual cycle. Since this tissue has no way to exit the body, it becomes trapped, leading to pain, cyst formation (endometriomas), and in severe cases, infertility. Chances of Ovarian Cancer in Endometriosis: Endometriosis can slightly increase the risk of ovarian cancer, especially in women who have had this condition for a long time. However, not all women are at risk. Regular testing and monitoring are key to catching any signs of cancer early. Other Risk Factors: Other risk factors for ovarian cancer include age, genetic mutations (BRCA1 and BRCA2), family history of cancer, and prolonged use of hormone therapy. Endometriosis, combined with these factors, may increase the overall risk of ovarian cancer. What are Tests for Ovarian Cancer: Tests to detect ovarian cancer include ultrasound, CA-125 blood tests, and biopsies. These tests help identify cancer in its early stages, making it easier to treat and control if detected in time. Precaution for Ovarian Cancer: To prevent ovarian cancer, it's essential to adopt a healthy lifestyle, get regular medical check-ups, and treat conditions like endometriosis in a timely manner. Avoiding smoking and unhealthy diets is crucial to keeping the body fit and reducing the risk. 0:00 Introduction 0:20 Does endometriosis increase the risk of ovarian cancer? 0:28 What is Endometriosis? 1:40 Importans of Endometriosis in Indian Clinical Issue 2:10 Chances of Ovarian Cancer in Endometriosis? 2:55 Other risk factors 4:00 What are Tests for Ovarian Cancer 5:18 Precausation for Ovarian Cancer? 6:20 Family Planning 6:50 Conclusion _________________________________________________________________________ Related videos: 1.
