Police: Tennis coach arrested after trying to lure underage girl for sex

KENTON COUNTY, Ky. (WKRC) - Adults and children trusted Timothy Mitchell as a tennis coach. He taught as an independent contractor with the Wyoming Recreation Center. He also worked for Wyoming City Schools as a spring coach in 2000 and 2001, but Tuesday night, police arrested Mitchell at a Kenton County park. Police Chief Michael “Spike” Jones said, “Mitchell believed our undercover officer to be a 14-year-old female. Mitchell was very explicit in his description of things he wanted to engage in. “ Officers accuse Mitchell of using the internet to set up the meeting. They say the 60-year-old Mount Airy man drove to Kenton County. Mitchell taught tennis all around the region and that has police concerned. Chief Jones said, “Mr. Mitchell appeared to be quite experienced at this the way he was grooming our undercover officer to coax them into meeting at this location for unlawful purposes. Our concern now is that there are other victims.“ Kenton County had another similar case recently with Matthew Bucher. He was convicted of sexually abusing kids in making child porn. Investigators are working to arrest people they believe are a danger to children and get convictions. “We believe that there’s no worst person that we deal with other than people that prey on the innocent, that prey on children, that prey on the elderly, and those are the folks that we are going to come get first, and if they are doing that here in Kenton County, rest assured, we are going to come get you.“ Kenton County Police are asking people on both sides of the river to call them if you know of any potential victims of Mitchell. Officers will also do presentations for schools and other groups so that families can be educated about how to avoid child predators.
