In the game, Ratchet & Clank, sometime after the ProtoPet business, learn of an invasion of their home planet; and in the process of liberating their old home, are thrust into a galactic conflict orchestrated by old Quark nemesis, Dr. Nefarious. Throughout the game, players experience a combination of slapstick comedy, shooting adventure, platforming, role-playing, and puzzle-solving, all while revolving around exploring many planets and completing objectives contained within, uncovering information that provides coordinates to other planets, and progressing through the story. And as the story progresses, players gain access to increasingly exotic gadgets and weaponry that borderline on the absurd to use against increasingly difficult foes.
