You don’t have to be a conspiracy theorist #WHCD2026
In this era of misinformation, people don’t know what to believe. That’s kind of the point. What we do know is that regardless of how you feel about #Trump and the precedented events of the past two years, #history proves skepticism is justifiable when threats arise amid an authoritarian power grab. Because for the past century, we have dozens of examples of manufactured threats—from Germany, the Soviet Union, North Korea, Iraq, Libya, and Japan—being used to justify power consolidation, unwarranted offensive military strikes, and to instill what Stephen Bannon would call a sense of “divine providence” supporting the authoritarian leader. We may never have proof of anything other than what the headlines tell us is true. But what we do have is an understanding with a little bit of pattern recognition, this is the kind of environment, and these are the kinds of tactics, used by authoritarian regimes to achieve their greater goals. And that is reason enough to justify a deep sense of skepticism. #news #uspolitics
