Blackpool Illuminations by Heritage Tram (November 2024)

One of the regular requests we receive from senior residents of Care Home and Hospices, especially after experiences with the numerous heritage steam train experiences is to see the Blackpool Illuminations, travelling along the seafront, as if on a tram. With the gracious support of the good folks at Blackpool Heritage Trams (https://blackpoolheritage.com), By attaching an Insta360 ONE RS camera to the front of the organisation’s trams, the iconic “Western Train” (built in 1962 from English Electric’s Railcoach 209 and Pantograph Car 174), and thanks to a miraculous gap in the otherwise horrible eweather on the day, we were able to record the entire journey, leaving the Pleasure Beach Heritage Tram stop, along the famous Blackpool Promenade and past all three piers (southern, central and northern) to the end of the lights at Bispham. Here the tram travels on a short loop and then heads back to the city, stopping (on this trip) at the famous Blackpool Tower. We’ve shortened the 360 trip to feature most of the illuminations, this enabling the video to be installed onto a low-cost VR headset. The music used for this video is from “Beach Swing: 1940s Vintage Dance Music for Summer Vibes” (by Relaxing Land – see also    / @relaxingland  )
