Inside the History of South Park: A Documentary on Trey Parker and Matt Stone
South Park is undoubtedly one of the most influential series of the past 20 years. In addition to its humor, clever satire, and original stories, its backstories are just as noteworthy and crucial to better understanding what it is that makes it such a unique and special show. In this Documentary (or Video Essay) I want to analyze the journey of Trey Parker & Matt Stone by asking a series of questions about animation, including: what is it that makes an animated product worthwhile? This seemed the right time to post this since South Park Post Covid and The Streaming Wars was just released on Paramount+, and the 25th Season is OUT! In order to answer this question, I analyzed their first steps, technique, modus operandi, and controversial episodes.
