Calendula flower life cycle | Reuse seeds for next season | Get your own plant at 0 cost 0 effort

We, the flower lovers spend lots of our hard earned money on buying flower/ veg saplings as well as seeds of various green leafy vegetables from market. However, we can have our seeds and hence saplings of various flowers/veggies from the blooms of the previous season. For this, we should keep some flowers or vegetables like different types of gourd, okra etc till the end of their cycle, so that the flowers/veggies get dried completely and the respective plants are at their last stage. For vegetables, only one is to be kept like this. For flowers, the number should be on a little higher side. We are taking the example of Calendar flowers. Calendula is a winter flower. Right now, they are at the end of their life cycle. There are more dry flowers than live flowers in a single plant. Some of the flowers are completely dry. At this stage - • take dry flowers, crumble them and collect the seeds on a plate • keep the plate in sun for a few days • then, put the seeds in an airtight container and close the lid •the container is to be kept in a place away from any source of water • the seeds are to be put in sun once or twice in every month and to keep in the container again • it is to be continued till the onset of the next winter season Then, you are to make new plants from the dry seeds that you have kept in your air tight container. This way you will save lot of money that you would otherwise spend in buying saplings from nursery. Moreover, you can have healthy saplings from your own seeds
