Improving Blood Cell Production as We Age | Jennifer Chia, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Jennifer Chia is investigating why our bodies produce fewer blood cells as we age, making us more vulnerable to infections and blood cancers. By studying both blood stem cells and the supportive cells around them in the bone marrow, her research could lead to interventions that improve overall blood production as we age — helping people live healthier for longer. Jennifer Chia is a clinical fellow in the lab of Dr. Alexander Hoffmann at UCLA. This science elevator pitch was recorded as part of Chia’s participation in the UCLA Broad Stem Cell Research Center’s training program.
