Gospel of the day - Sunday, October 5, 2025 - Luke 17:5-10 - Catholic Bible

Welcome to our daily encounter with the Word of God! Today, we will reflect on the day's readings, taken from the Book of the Prophet Habakkuk (Habakkuk 1:2-3; 2:2-4), the Second Letter of Saint Paul to Timothy (2 Timothy 1:6-8, 13-14), and the Gospel according to Saint Luke (Luke 17:5-10). These passages invite us to strengthen our faith, persevere in the face of difficulties, and live humbly before the Lord. First Reading (Habakkuk 1:2-3; 2:2-4): The prophet Habakkuk cries out to God in the face of the injustice and violence that plagued the people. God responds by showing that justice will come in its own time, and that the righteous will live by faith. This message is an invitation to trust in God even in times of tribulation, knowing that His justice never fails. Second Reading (2 Timothy 1:6-8, 13-14): Saint Paul exhorts Timothy to rekindle the gift of God received through the laying on of hands and to live courageously, without being ashamed of bearing witness to Christ. The apostle reminds us that the Holy Spirit gives us strength, love, and wisdom to guard the faith and pass it on faithfully. Gospel (Luke 17:5-10): In the Gospel, the apostles ask Jesus to increase their faith. He responds by showing that faith the size of a mustard seed is capable of achieving great things. Jesus then teaches humility: we are servants called to fulfill our duty without expecting human rewards.
