This 5 Minute Yoga Nidra is a quick guided meditation to help you soothe your mind and nervous system. Guided by Loren Runion, this yogic sleep practice uses soft rain sounds and the physiological sigh breath pattern to help you instantly activate your parasympathetic nervous system and rest your overstimulated mind and body. Then you will be gently guided through a body scan and breath awareness. This nidra is the perfect practice for when you are busy abd need a quick reboot or you are trying to add more yoga nidra to your daily life. Yoga nidra has tremendous benefits even in a practice that is 5 minutes in length. In this short time, you can establish a deep sense of calm, slow down your breath, and therefore slow down your mind. Yoga nidra also known as yogic sleep is an ancient practice and state. It is a practice of non-doing, of deep rest, and of healing to come back to your true self. Traditionally yoga nidra is practiced lying down in savasana, but if that isn’t available to you just find a position that feels good and safe for your body. Focus on feeling supported. This could be in a side-lying position or inclined position where the head is above the heart. ✔️Have props to support your body like bed or couch pillows, a blanket, and possibly an eye covering to block out light. ✔️Affirm to yourself before starting that rest is your birthright and not something you need to earn.
