Second Sunday in Lent March 5, 2023 As We Gather: Our focus during this Lenten season centers on the cross of Jesus, and the life-giving Words He spoke into our lives on Good Friday. It promises to be a meaningful journey, where, the image of the cross, just by its common usage in art, jewelry, and the like, can become devalued in the experience of the Christian. So can a lot of what we hear. However, as Jesus speaks His Word into our lives, our hope and faith is renewed for what lies ahead. From the cross itself, we hear again the seven lasting words of our Savior, finding in them forgiveness, life, and salvation. All to say, this Lenten season is more a step on the journey of faith than a stop, as we cast our vision to the empty tomb, and an eternity of joy with Jesus. Welcome in the Savior’s name!
