16-year old actress Ariel Winter, who plays Alex Dunphy on the TV program Modern Family, has been emancipated from her mother. The actresses' older sister, Shanelle Gray, accused their mother, Chrisoula Workman of physically and emotionally abusing the teenager. Because of these allegations, Ariel Winter has been under temporarily guardianship of her sister and brother-in-law since 2012.
