"All Who Are Thirsty" cover song sung by the Lighthouse Village Church of God's worship band

1/12/2025 morning worship service Pastor Anthony Fields "GENESIS 1-50: God's Work of Genius" "We, as a nation, have disconnected from the Bible, doctrine has been dismantled and we are in a societal free-fall. Wrong is now right and what is right is now called wrong. While we certainly need to sound the alarm about what is happening in our society today, we also need to look inside our own lives, and inside the church. "American evangelicals' grasp on theology is slipping, and more than half affirmed heretical views of God." (Christianity Today. 2022) Brothers and sisters, it's time for us to get back to the beginning to make sure our foundations are secure, and we are faithful to them! Tedd Tripp:""Give your children big truths they will grow into, rather than light explanations they will grow out of" We must be tethered tightly to truth and communicate it to others in a spirit of grace. Tim Challies: "Shallow Christianity will not last in the coming generation, and it will not grow. Cultural Christianity is fading. The church in the twenty-first century must go big on truth or go home." To move forward in our faith, we must go back to the beginning YOUR CHALLENGE: READ the entire Book of Genesis 2 Timothy 3:16-17 tells us "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, tnat the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. ⁃ Genesis provides divine framework for God's plan from the beginning. ⁃ Genesis lays out four foundations which are fleshed out in the rest of the Bible. Between Genesis and Revelation, we see the genius of God. Bridges are built to span across a river or chasm of some sort. God in Christ Jesus is the Bridge Bullder. Building bridges is costly! Jesus took our place that we might have His peace; He took our sin we might " have His salvation. God built a bridge to us, which cost Him His Son. Romans 5:8: "But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." " _______________________ "Though you are worthy of trumpets and the song of angels, you graciously receive our daily prayers of whispered words and mundane habits. Enable us, Lord, to love you with all that we are and in all that we do. Teach us how we right truly pray without ceasing. Amen." _________________________ "Think on This: Don't Live in the Past, Neither Forget It" From a Christian perspective, history is important because it is the vehicle for God's work in the world. The Bible itself is largely history, and Christians are commanded to make known God's works. The scripture that most directly relates to "remember what you were delivered from" is Deuteronomy 8:2, which states, "And you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, testing you to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments or not." Here are some Bible verses that relate to history: Deuteronomy 32:7: Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations, and ask your father and elders. Hebrews 11:3: By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God. 1 Corinthians 10:11: These things happened to them as an example, but they were written down for our instruction." _________________________ " "JESUS CAME TO SERVE" John 13:1-17 Jesus washed smelly, dirty, calloused feet with His own holy hands. At this point, the disciples are prepared for Jesus to become the military and political ileader of Israel. Instead, Jesus removed His clothing and acted like slave. ▪︎ How would it have felt to be in that room with the disciples? ▪︎ Does serving others come easily to you? Why or why not? ▪︎ What's one way you can serve someone today?"
