Lao NEWS on LNTV: The German govt provides further funding of 254 billion kip to Laos.18/5/2015

VO The German govt provides further funding of 254 billion kip to Laos for projects involving technical cooperation. INTRO: The German government has provided further funding of 254 billion kip (28.3 million euros) to Laos for projects involving technical cooperation. STORY: A comprehensive agreement on technical cooperation was signed by Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Dr Kikeo Chanthaboury and German Ambassador to Laos Michael Grau. The funding will go to projects that support forest and biodiversity protection in Laos, improve environmental awareness, specifically on climate change and forest issues, support sustainable land management, including land registration, access to microfinance, vocational training and sustainable mining. The 254 billion kip provided by the German government is a substantial commitment to bilateral development cooperation. The funding covers a two year period from 2014 to 2016 The German government stands ready to continue cooperation in the two main areas of natural resource management as well as trade and private sector development, including vocational training.
