What is it REALLY like to go to Times Square for NYE to watch the ball drop?(No hotel)

#Solo in #NYC 🗽 #TimesSquare for New Year's Eve! I'm here to watch the #balldrop All of the streets were blocked off, except for two streets with entry points! Standing in line from 1pm to 730pm! The street to be able to enter was starting at 49th Street. After standing there for a couple hours and finally getting to 49th, they said it was closed and we then had to make it to 53rd street to enter into Times Square. It was so much confusion going on, pushing, a suspicious bag, stop and go, walking, running, shoving, and trying to squeeze out way in around the building. Finally inside, locked in cages, if you left out, they said you couldn't come back in that location! Good luck if you had to use the bathroom. Bring lots of snacks and some bottled water, but try not to drink too much if you don't want to be stuck having to use the bathroom and lose your spot. This was a one and done type of visit. Too chaotic! Not even sure if I got to see the actual ball, let alone drop. Someone said it was a fake ball, so still doing some research to see where I actually was. Unfortunately, my phone died in the last 5 seconds count down, go figure.
