Healing prayer service December 5, 2023 Hope!
Thank you to Randi and Dennis for serving at this service! Thank you Buddy and Ken for the tech help! The first week of Advent Looking back and celebrating the birth of Jesus Looking forward in anticipation to His 2nd coming May the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with Hope by the power of Holy Spirit Romans 15:13 Hope is such an intangible feeling which can be easily lost at various points in life. Have you ever lost Hope? No hope to be free of a particular illness? No hope to live without fear? No hope to get out of poverty? No hope for the healing of a mental illness? No hope for the restoration of a broken relationship? No hope to be rid of a certain label that has been placed on you? No hope for lasting recovery from addiction? Fading hope for a loved one who refuses to trust Jesus? Have you ever said the words: I don’t want to get my Hopes up because I don’t want to be disappointed… yet again Romans 5:5 says Hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us. One Advent commentary suggested: Maybe hope isn’t something we do, as much as, something we receive, like grace. HOPE does not disappoint – the longer part of that scripture reads: Romans 5: 1-5 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we[a] have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we[b] boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we[c] also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame (disappoint), because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. Long ago, the prophet Isaiah wrote (9:2) The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death, a light has dawned. (9:6-7) And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of the Lord will accomplish this. Lost hope can be found again! Fading hope can be re-vitalized! As we move into a time of soaking – open your heart to Holy Spirit. If there is an obvious place where you have lost hope, confess that to HIm Then, step into the truth of scripture. Allow God to pour out His lov
