Boris Johnson arrives in Downing Street for Cabinet meeting

Boris Johnson raced to Cabinet checking his watch today (pictured left) after flying home from the Afghanistan trip that allowed him to miss the Heathrow vote. The Foreign Secretary dashed to Downing Street after appearing to check whether he was late for the weekly meeting of the Prime Minister's top team. He is under under fire from both sides today after using the trip to Kabul to skip the crunch vote on a third runway. He claimed resigning would have been pointless because the runway still might never happen. The Foreign Secretary was ridiculed during the Heathrow debate after he flew 3,500 miles to Kabul (pictured right Hekmat Karzai yesterday) with and back to avoid the vote (inset) - despite vowing to continue to oppose the plan inside Government.
