My name is Peige (they/them) and I’m an American living in Switzerland. In this video, I’ll introduce you to how I celebrate a holiday that’s near and dear to me: Chinese New Year! It’s known as Spring Festival in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, and you may have heard it being referred to as Lunar New Year globally. There’s currently a lot of controversy surrounding the naming of this holiday, so I just say, “Happy Year of the Snake, to those who celebrate!” 🐍 My Christmas decorations are still up at the start of the video, so there will be some cleaning involved to take everything down. Then, we’ll stop by Ikea to pick up some CNY goodies before decorating my living room. 🏮 Finally, we’ll wrap up the video with our celebrations! There will be lots of yummy food including some dim sum, hot pot, and even a slithering snake salad. I had a lot of fun making this video, and I hope you enjoyed it too!
