Ghanaian player David Accam scored an all needed equalizer in the US Open Cup to help his Chicago Fire team win on penalties in their game against Indy Eleven. Accam started the game in which his team played the full 90 minutes against Indy Eleven with neither sides finding the back of the net. Extra time however proved to be an exciting encounter as a goal from each team ended the game 1-1 before Chicago Fire won on penalties with Accam scoring the winning penalty. Black Stars of Ghana captain, Asamoah Gyan has threatened to take legal action against Accra based Montie FM’s Mugabe for tarnishing is reputation. The radio presenter on his political show last Monday claimed that Gyan is funding the New Patriotic Party (NPP), adding that the Shanghai SIPG hit-man had imported arms and machetes to support the biggest opposition party in Ghana ahead of the upcoming election. Egyptian Football Association have won their appeal after lodging a formal complaint to FIFA after the special June ranking for the African Qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. The FIFA June ranking was released on June 9 to be used in distributing the teams into the pots for the African qualifying draw. Egypt dropped two spots in the special ranking and fell out of Pot one with Tunisia replacing them.
