The draw for the African Qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament was held on Friday, June 24, 2016. The Black Stars of Ghana have been drawn in Group E with Uganda, Congo and Egypt. Ghana went into the draw seeded in Pot 1 with Algeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Senegal and Tunisia. Egypt were seeded in Pot 2 accounting for them being in the same group with the Black Stars of Ghana. Atsu Nyamadi won Ghana’s first medal at the 20 African Seniors Championships at the Kings ParkAthletics Stadium in Durban-South Africa on Thursday after taking silver in the men’s decathlon on the second day of the event.
