Mostly they walk on their toes. Most of the time they are independent walker and can perform all the functions given to them. Some of the children also have upper limb deformity and functional problems. in the early stages, these children can be managed with therapy & brace. sometimes they require plaster. If the tightness is too much, then botulinum toxin injection in the gastrocnemius is needed to relax the muscle. Plaster is also given simultaneously in these children. When they reach 6- 8 years, they develop a fixed length contracture of the calf muscle, they require surgery. Usually in mild cases, only myofascial release of gastrocnemius is sufficient, but in severe deformity, heel card lengthening is required. 👉About Dr Jitendra Kumar Jain Dr Jitendra Kumar Jain, MS Ortho (PGI Chandigarh) & DNB Ortho is a Senior Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon & Chairman of Trishla Foundation, India.
