Three day Nineveh Fast - qolo in the tune Sohdaw Athoon
This is recorded at St. Mark's Syriac Orthodox Monastery in Jerusalem. The chanters include the Metropolitan Mor Anthimos Yaqub of Jerusalem and the monks of the Dayara. Here is the English translation of what is being chanted The beloved youths, the children of the Hebrews; in fasting extinguished the fire of the furnace. And the Ninevites in sackcloth and tears annulled the wrath of indignation that was upon them. And also us, our Lord; who have consumed your body and your blood; bestow on us absolution. In six days the Son of God; heavens and earth and all that is in those, and in one town that beseeched of destruction; forty days suborn in spirit, To him praise, that who that built in a few and rapidly; and whose anger suborned by spirit. We know, Lord, that we have sinned against you. By our faults, we have greatly angered you. If justice should unsheath the sword, may your compassion, Lord, stand up for us, and if, Lord, the end of time shall come, may our end be in your mercy.
