TOPIC: DO WE BELIEVE THAT OUR LACK CAN BECOME GOD’S ABUNDANCE? First Reading: Numbers 11: 4b-15 Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 81: 12-13, 14-15, 16-17 Alleluia: Matthew 4: 4 Gospel: Matthew 14: 13-21 In today’s gospel in Matthew 14:13-21 we hear that the disciples approached Jesus and said, "This is a deserted place and it is already late; dismiss the crowds so that they can go to the villages and buy food for themselves." He said to them, "There is no need for them to go away; give them some food yourselves." We know what happens in this story. This narrative serves as a constant reminder of the principles of generosity. Another source of inspiration today examines the transition from what initially appears to be a serious issue of not having enough to having more than enough. Which clearly demonstrates that our LACK can be His ABUNDANCE. Jesus’ heart was moved with pity, and it is through this compassion that Christ wants us to be partakers in his Divine Mission. To offer to Him whatever little we have, which He will turn it to something beautiful. All the heavy lifting will be done by Him. All we need to do is provide the bare essentials such as the five loaves and two fish. This is the 1204th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings. [NOTE: As we continue to pray for Bro Bong Arjonillo’s healing and recovery, let us listen to our brother Eric Villanueva, CFC Missions Head for Europe and Africa, as he brings us today's reflection.] All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives.
