First Reading: Colossians 2: 6-15 Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 145: 1b-2, 8-9, 10-11 Alleluia: John 15: 16 Gospel: Luke 6: 12-19 Luke 6:12-19 narrates to us the extent of Jesus’ missionary life as He do His ministry of teaching, healing of the sick, and giving guidance and courage to those who are astray, and that includes choosing and empowering His apostles. He is able to do all of these because of His source of power and strength ⏤ He spends a focused and committed time of prayer from the beginning of His day! All of us are entrusted to do mission in various ways as long as we acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus Christ and desire to follow Him. Working in the vineyard of our God is not an easy task, it requires unwavering heart to accomplish missions that deal with people of different personalities, tasks which at times may frustrate or disappoint us, and different roles that we need to manage to give justice to those who are depending on us. Saint Augustine said, “Pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you.” With the huge task that we need to accomplish every day, there is only one source that can give us enough strength and power ⏤ our time spent in communion with the Lord our God. The One who commissions us will also be the One who will empower us. We only need to fully trust and rely on Him, and we can rest assured that His power will manifest through us. This is the 1236th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings. [NOTE: As we continue to pray for Bro Bong Arjonillo’s healing and recovery, let us listen to our brother Lawrence Quintero, a member of the CFC International Council, as he brings us today's reflection. All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives.
