First Reading: Ezra 6: 7-8, 12b, 14-20 Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 122: 1-2, 3-4ab, 4cd-5 Alleluia: Luke 11: 28 Gospel: Luke 8: 19-21 In our gospel today from Luke 8:19-21, Jesus responded to his listeners when they told him that his mothers and brothers are standing outside and wished to see him, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and act on it.” A response that seems disrespectful to his own mother and disciples and could even be disturbing for those who heard him. But we know that Jesus’ response was his way of sending a message beyond his words. He could be reminding us that true relationships must manifest itself beyond blood, but by honoring each other by the way of living out our commitment with each other. In essence, we must honor our relationship with God by following His words and living out our commitment with Him, that is what makes our relationship real, nourished, and strengthened. This is the 1250th installment of our CFC contemplation series focusing on the daily liturgical readings. [NOTE: As we continue to pray for Bro Bong Arjonillo’s healing and recovery, let us listen to our brother Lawrence Quintero, a member of the CFC International Council, as he brings us today's reflection. All the regular reflections are between 3-7 minutes long, enough time for us to ponder what God's message is for us individually and to pray that we may live them out in our lives.
