Boy! Was I ready to get this bulb order from colorblends.com, and start planning for the future instead of ruminating about the mess from the ice storm. Look at the quality and size of these bulbs: Amaryllis, hyacinths, and my beloved tulips! I’ll be planting just before Thanksgiving after it cools down some more. My color palette this year will be pink white lavender… And more white. Stay tuned for some amaryllis bulb planting for the coming season first! I typically place mine in early spring for next year's beds. Keep your confirmation email & check your order once you receive it so you can ensure it's accurate. Inspect the bulbs for quality & contact them if any of the bulbs are soft or mushy (customer service number: 1 (888) 847-8637 Keep the crates & bags your bulbs come in! The crates are great for storage & the bags can be cleaned & reused for produce at the grocery store. There is a myriad of different uses! Save the tags to use as plant markers once you get your bulbs in the ground. Planting: I plant my bulbs a week or two before Thanksgiving (Early to mid-November) so the soil is cold enough for them to go into the ground. Keep your bulbs in a cool dark place before you’re ready to plant. Don't be afraid to plant multiple bulbs in one large shallow hole for an explosion of color. Be sure to plant your bulbs in sunlight & give them good drainage to ensure optimal growth. Remember that deciduous trees lose their leaves in the winter so if you're planting them under trees they will be in full sun during their growing season. Design: Make a mood board & see how different varieties will complement each other. Start with one variety as your “base” bulb and work around that particular color palette. Look for accent colors within the flower and select varieties with similar color echos to complement your base bulb. Thank you so much to ‪@colorblends‬ for partnering with me on this video.
