Heat the cooker. Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of oil in it. Add ¼ teaspoon of cumin seeds in hot oil and let them roast. Then, add asafoetida, turmeric powder and coriander powder and lightly roast the spices on low flame. After this, add tomato-green chilli paste and ginger paste in it. Also add half red chilli powder and roast it till oil floats on top of the spices. Meanwhile, grind the peas coarsely. Some grains should also remain whole. Add the ground peas in the roasted spices and roast it with the spices for 1 minute. Add 1 cup of water and salt and mix it. Close the cooker and let the peas cook till 1 whistle. After the whistle, turn off the gas and let the dal remain in the cooker till the pressure of the cooker is over. Later, add garam masala and some green coriander to the dal and mix it. Take out the dal in a bowl. You can serve green pea dal like this but to make it more tasty and spicy, you can also add tadka to it. Add tadka Heat the tadka pan. Add 1 teaspoon ghee in it. When the ghee is hot, add the remaining cumin seeds and chopped chilies and fry lightly. Then, turn off the gas and add the remaining red chili powder to the tadka. Pour the prepared tadka over the dal and mix it. Garnish it by adding green coriander. The tasty and spicy green pea dal is ready to serve. Serve it with chapati, paratha, naan, puri, rice or anything else. Suggestion If you want, do not add asafoetida and make it by adding onion and garlic. It is better to use desi tomatoes for this because they are sour and their use also adds a good taste to the dal. If ginger paste is not available, then grind ½ inch piece of ginger along with tomatoes and green chilies. If you like spicy food, you can add more chillies. You can keep the dal a little thick or thin according to your choice and taste. Add garam masala and coriander leaves at the end so that their aroma remains for a longer time.
