Are You Anxious and Worried About Many Things? — Sunday Sermon by Bishop Robert Barron

Are You Anxious and Worried About Many Things? — Sunday Sermon by Bishop Robert Barron

Friends, on this Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time, our Gospel is the story of Martha and Mary, and in my years of preaching, I've found it to be one that tends to upset people a lot. With our first reading about Abraham in mind, we can better understand what this passage means—and what it doesn't. Rather than playing "one sister or the other," we should play Martha and Mary together: When we focus on the "unum necessarium," the one necessary thing, the many things that concern us find their proper place.
