An online conversation about embracing change with hopes to break the boundaries of gender and judgement. I have learned throughout my process of transition the more I talk about things, the better I am as a person in understanding all lifestyles and creating more love. Join me for the next 30 days on this journey of life and let's start talking! Day 21 - Friendships: Friends have always played such a huge role for me in my life. From being suspended in high school for being overly social to choosing my friends before responsibilities, I always knew I could count on them for whatever and whenever I needed. Growing up I mostly had all straight cis female friends but nobody like me, not even a gay person really. Although I did make one best friend, Iris, who I met in kindergarten and til this day we are still best friends!Somehow I always felt left out because I wasn't "one of the girls." There were limitations and a line drawn at times that was confusing and didn't feel right. It wasn't until I became 18 and graduated from high school that I began to attend the gay clubs in Chicago and start to discover other friends who were like me. Putting myself out there and not putting a limit to the individuals I was open to meeting has made me the person I am today. Unfortunately once I started my transition I felt some of my good friendships shift. I was becoming more successful and traveling almost every weekend which didn't allow me to be present like most of my friends were in their daily lives. It was only a matter of time that these friendships diminished and was for once feeling no love from my city anymore. Sadly discouraged but determined to get out of Chicago and make a new life for myself, I knew one person who I could turn to. My good judy Jay Jackson (@LaganjaEstranja) who had never left my side since sending me home on the Season 6 of Drag Race. There was something special that we had that I hadn't obtained with anyone else in my life. That was similarity in our jobs, lifestyle and goals we wanted to accomplish as stars on the rise! After months of Jay so kindly offering his home to me encouraging I come and make a new life for myself in L.A., I graciously accept the offer and move into his room. Sleeping on an air mattress for what turned into months while trying to become financially stable enough to get out on my own, the two of us really bonded and became loyal friends. We created a friendship of trust, understanding and a safe zone for the both of us to be free of judgement and share endless amounts of laughter and love. Jay has really been one of the most loyal friends I've ever had and will never loose appreciation for the amount of kindness he has shared with me. After years of figuratively speaking, in November of 2017 we finally moved into our own home and are enjoying creating our new space of creativity and inspirational life together as best friends.
